Preparing a grant, fellowship, prize or award application?
Find the words for why your research matters
Talk to KylieBot, an AI interviewer, about your research. It drafts a profile, biographies and an impact report to adapt for grants, fellowships (including DECRA), prizes and awards, impact statements and bios, edited by one of our editors.
Thinking of hiring a grant writer? Start with the parts only you can explain: your impact, your contribution and your story.
$450 AUD, including GST

It asked left of field questions which made me dig deep into who I am and what I am actually doing in research.
Dr Catherine Toben, Translational Psychiatric Researcher & Lecturer, Adelaide University
Built on the method of Kylie Ahern, an award-winning science publisher with more than 20 years across Cosmos and Nature Publishing Group
Sound familiar?
The hardest part of an application is explaining your own work
Reviewers outside your field
The panel is expert but not specialist. You know the detail so well that it is hard to see where the jargon is.
The impact and significance questions
You know your work matters. Saying plainly who benefits, and why, is another matter.
Writing about yourself
Your achievements read as too modest on the page, or as boasting. A blank page and a deadline make it harder.
So you talk, and KylieBot listens. It asks the questions Kylie would ask and finds the story in your answers. Nothing to write or prepare.
For your application
Material for each part of your application
Drafted by KylieBot from your interview and edited by one of our editors. You shape it to each application’s questions.
Your research and why it matters
Profile
For questions about your research, your achievements and why they matter, and for nominations.
Track record and team
Biography
A short and a long version, for the biography a form asks for and the supporting biographies a team application needs.
Impact, benefit and significance
Impact report
A starting point for questions about the impact, benefit and significance of your research.
Samples for illustration. Dr Tamsin Kerrow and Coral Sea University are fictitious.
You stay the author
This is a research story package to adapt, not a grant-writing service or a complete grant application, and it is not tailored to any funder’s criteria. You shape it to each application and check it before you submit. No one can promise funding or an award.
KylieBot is independent and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Australian Research Council.

In their words
What researchers say about the interview
These researchers were interviewed by KylieBot through their institution.

Prof Ian Henderson
Institute for Molecular Bioscience
KylieBot is an outstanding example of how AI can bridge the gap between scientific expertise and public understanding. I was genuinely impressed by its ability to take complex scientific concepts and translate them into clear, engaging language that a lay audience can easily understand, without losing the essence or significance of the research.

Dr Catherine Toben
Translational Psychiatric Researcher & Lecturer, Adelaide University
My experience with KylieBot was inspirational. It asked left of field questions which made me dig deep into who I am and what I am actually doing in research. It made me feel heard and validated, so gave me a dopamine hit which is rare in this line of work and which I will use to strategise the rest of the year. I believe KylieBot is appropriate for mid-career researchers and beyond to keep us on track with our mission and visions and hard earned research outcomes. Would highly recommend.

Yes. KylieBot is an AI interviewer, built on Kylie Ahern's way of interviewing and writing. It runs the interview and drafts your content.
One of our professional editors then edits every piece before it is sent to you.
Your interview is not used to train third-party AI models.
Can I use it for more than one application?
Yes. Your content belongs to you, so you can adapt it for as many applications, nominations and introductions as you like.
Can I use AI-drafted material in my application?
Check your funder’s and your university’s current rules on generative AI. You adapt what you receive, and you remain responsible for everything you submit.
Will it sound like me?
It is written from what you say in your interview. You receive Word documents, so you can change anything before you use it.
How far ahead of my deadline should I start?
Each piece is edited by one of our professional editors before it is sent. Your content is emailed to you within 3 business days of your interview. Leave yourself time after that to adapt it to the application's questions.
When your content arrives

The interview
Allow 45 to 60 minutes. An interview needs to run at least 20 minutes to count. If yours ends sooner, it does not count and you can start again at no charge.
- Find a quiet space where you will not be interrupted.
- Speak naturally. It is a voice conversation, not a form.
- There is nothing to write or rehearse beforehand.

Private, and yours
Your purchase and your content belong to you alone. No university or employer can see them or take them over.
Claiming the cost
A tax invoice is emailed to you when you pay, and you can add your organisation's name to it at checkout. Whether the cost can be claimed is a matter for your institution.
